I'm a multi-discipline problem solver with 10 years of work experience as an inventor, scientist, and engineer. I specialize in creating new technology for the R&D community.

Inventor

Josh has produced over 10 patents ranging from new methods of manufacturing nanofibers to human stem cell-based devices for drug development. Josh has showcased these technologies to government agencies such as DARPA, NIH, DTRA, US Army, and FDA, as well as to private companies like GSK, Abbot, Sanofi, Nike, and Reebok.

Engineer

Using the engineering design process, Josh had made bioreactors, nanofiber spinning machines, microfluidic devices, and machines that mimic brain trauma. With a focus on biomedical device design, Josh uses the latest techniques in rapid prototyping, microfluidics, and nanofabrication to help solve emergent health issues.

Scientist

Josh is an author of 14 scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals such as Lab on a Chip, PNAS, Biomaterials, and Nano Letters. Josh has developed new techniques for in Vitro neuron culture to better understand Traumatic Brain Injury and has performed validation studies on human stem cell assays for the pharmaceutical industry.

Benchtop models of Traumatic Brain Injury

Developed new methods for culturing brain tissue and created devices that mimic Traumatic Brain Injury.

Rapid Prototyping

Expertise in state-of-the-art fabrication methods to produce scientific and biomedical components from a wide range of materials.

Bioreactor Systems

Designed the nanofiber tissue scaffold technology as well as the complete life-support systems for long-term culture of miniature tissue-engineered hearts.

About

Josh is insatiably curious, loves solving problems, and spends his free time tinkering on machines or embarking on outdoor adventures. Raised in a bilingual family, Josh is fluent in Spanish. Josh is a U.S. Marine veteran with two deployments to Iraq. Josh received a bachelor's degree from Harding University, after which he moved to Boston to work as a staff scientist and engineer at Harvard University from 2008 to 2015. He currently works as a research scientist at the Center for Advanced Surface Engineering at the University of Arkansas. He resides with his wife Juli in downtown Rogers, Arkansas.
